My goal for every Spur Strap puppy is to ensure both the dog and the family thrive together. I take time to understand each family’s lifestyle and personality, matching them with the right puppy for a lifelong bond. Many of my clients have become dear friends through this process, and seeing those relationships grow is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.
Outside of breeding, I am a mom to three adult children and love spending time outdoors, whether hiking with the dogs, working in the yard, or enjoying the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. I grew up showing horses, which instilled in me a love for competition and a drive to always improve.

My background in Animal Science, earned through studies at Utah State University and Montana State University, deepened my understanding of genetics, structure, and nutrition, which form the foundation of a healthy animal. Nutrition has always fascinated me because it fuels longevity, vitality, and overall wellness in our dogs.

The journey of Spur Strap Miniature Australian Shepherds began nearly 20 years ago as a simple love for showing quality dogs. What started as a hobby has grown into a small, purposeful breeding program built on dedication, education, and mentorship. From the beginning, I have had the privilege of working under the guidance of Kathy Tomerlin, whose friendship and wisdom have shaped my philosophy of always prioritizing quality over quantity. Her influence helped me understand that great breeding is not about producing more dogs, it is about producing better ones.
