The formation of Spur Strap Miniature Australian Shepherds has been a process for me. What started out as a hobby of showing quality dogs almost 20 years ago, has now morphed into a small breeding program under the guidance of Kathy Tomerlin. Kathy has since helped me understand the importance of breeding quality over mass producing, and she has become a very good friend.

 

It is important to me that a dog moves well, is structurally sound, and has a personable temperament. Breeding comes with it's challenges and I will forever be grateful to the many mentors of reputable breeders that I have been blessed to rub shoulders with. Knowledge is power, and it has been a great journey the last 16 years learning everything that goes into a reputable breeding program.

I studied at Utah State University and Montana State University graduating with a Bachelors in Animal Science. I love to learn. Nutrition has always been an area of interest for me. It is the fuel for the whole body and determines the health and longevity of our animals.

My goal for each puppy parent is that your experience here is a positive one. I enjoy getting to know each family. I try to match your lifestyle with an appropriate puppy. In my heart I know this a better way to pair you with the right dog. I think most of my clients appreciate my attention to detail as we look for the right puppy together.

I am also a mom of three adult children. Our family is growing as children move away and start families of their own. I love the outdoors, working in the yard, or hiking with the dogs. I grew up showing horses, which I think has left me somewhat with a competitive streak. I try to raise the dogs in the best way that I know how.
